Learn More About How Hot Runner Systems Can Work for You

A hot runner system is an assembly of heated components used in plastic injection moulds. A hot runner system includes a heated manifold and a number of heated nozzles. The main task of the manifold is to distribute the plastic entering the mould to the various nozzles which then meter it precisely into the injection points in the cavities.

Hot runner systems can allow savings to be made by reducing plastic waste and by reducing the cycle time. They allow stress free, more accurate moulds giving an overall superior mould.

Our Experience

HMT have extensive experience in implementing multi-drop or single drop hot runner systems. Having several flow analysis options at our disposal, the parts go through rigorous flow analysis to show the best place for feed gates and venting points before the tooling is designed.

Normally, the place where the plastic is injected into the mould leaves a slight mark. In some instances the tolerances of the item are so tight that the smallest variation in the surface could cause the component to malfunction or, if it is part of a kit, prevent it from fitting together correctly with the other parts.

In these instances, using hot runner systems can be used to such fine tolerances, that the gate leaves nothing more than a minor scar. We can position the gates in the optimum spot to maintain accuracy and reduce waste.

The hot runner systems we use provides use with detailed feedback, allowing us to fine-tune the production process to maintain accuracy and reduce waste, keeping HMT environmentally friendly.
